We're thrilled to extend this mission by supporting local designers who prioritize sustainability through the eugenie Designer Grant. This grant awards $10,000 and professional support to a visionary designer in the Detroit community to help bring their innovative project to life. Meet the Winner of the 2024 eugenie Designer Grant...   Mariah Ruff Ruff Cut Official Winner: $10,000 Ruff Cut is a brand built on the principles of deconstruction and reconstruction — encouraging wearers to embrace individuality, radical self-acceptance, and reinvention. By breaking down old identities, the brand empowers people to rebuild themselves with authenticity and confidence. Born from Mariah's Detroit roots, Ruff Cut reflects her commitment to creativity and self-expression, offering a distinct aesthetic that challenges conventional fashion. Exciting update for the 2024 eugenie Designer Grant: This year, the level of talent was so exceptional that it was challenging to choose just one recipient. As a result, and for this year only, we've introduced a second award of $5,000 and professional support, to recognize and uplift another outstanding Detroit designer. Meet the Runner-Up of the 2024 eugenie Designer Grant... Fernando Gutierrez Foreign Objects Runner-Up: $5,000 Known for its dedication to craftsmanship and consistent quality, Foreign Objects is an independent, maker-owned sewing project that explores cultures on the fringe of society. The brand highlights how subcultures express their identities through objects that carry their own particular cultural significance. Foreign Objects shapes community defined by a shared sense of alienation from the modern world—a tribe for objective foreigners. Congratulations to all the 2024 eugenie Designer Grant Finalists!
