The history of cotton cultivation in Egypt can be traced back to 3000 BCE, when ancient Egyptians first began tending to cotton fields along the banks of the Nile River.

Due to its superior quality, Egyptian cotton soon became highly sought after by traders.

Throughout the 19th century Egypt began to modernize its cotton industry, and over time, Egyptian cotton gained international recognition for its exceptional quality.

At Kotn, we source our cotton directly from smallholder family-run farms in the Nile Delta and Faiyum, Egypt. This ensures direct-trade practices, fair pay, and safe working conditions along the way.

This also allows us to craft our garments from the finest, strongest, and softest cotton in the world - known as "white gold."

How It's Made

Once cotton seeds are planted, the cultivation and production of Egyptian cotton involves several key steps - from harvesting to processing.
